Monarch Data Pump V8 Automatically Extracts and Delivers Data From PDFs For Analysis and Data Warehouse Population

SAN DIEGO --(Business Wire)-- May 25, 2005 --

New Version of Datawatch's ETL and Data Distribution Server Enables Organizations to Utilize Data Trapped in PDFs, HTML Files, Reports, Databases and Spreadsheets

Datawatch Corporation (NASDAQ: DWCH), a leading provider of report management, data transformation and analytic solutions, today introduced Monarch Data Pump Version 8 (MDP8) during its annual Datawatch User Conference, underway at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla. MDP8 is a server-based information delivery and data ETL solution which automatically imports, transforms and delivers customized data mined from report files, databases, spreadsheets, ODBC data sources, HTML files, and now PDF files, and includes the ability to export and deliver the data in multiple formats, including natively as a PDF file.

Other new features in MDP8 include:

-- Report monitoring. MDP8 monitors file folders constantly for newly generated reports and automatically extracts, transforms, loads and distributes the required data;

-- Zip compression. MDP8 can deliver, via e-mail, customized data as a compressed Zip file, with optional password protection;

-- Robust alerting. Should a MDP8 process fail, adminstrators not only receive an alert, but also the job log, for faster trouble-shooting;

-- Password management for .NET scripts. For enterprises applying customized .NET scripts to MDP8 processes, individual passwords are stored securely;

-- Improved OLE DB functionality; and

-- New XML transformation module. This optional module allows users to automate processing of reports and other business documents into valid XML, using projects created by Datawatch's VorteXML Designer software.

"Monarch Data Pump is at the core of so many of our operations such as payroll, auditing and real time performance reporting for our sales people," said Charles Byron, productivity manager of RMIC, an insurance company based in Winston Salem, NC. "It allows us to get the information to the right people at the right time in the right format to make better informed decisions. We're looking forward to utilizing Monarch Data Pump V8's ability to automatically mine and deliver data sourced from PDF based reports."

"Monarch Data Pump V8 makes it easier than ever to create and deliver customized information and data across the enterprise," said John Kitchen, senior vice president of Datawatch desktop and server solutions. "With MDP8's new ability to use information locked in PDFs, MDP8 empowers enterprises to utilize even more data trapped in inflexible formats. Data locked in PDF files is now freed for business intelligence with MDP8. MDP8 enables enterprises to utilize trusted, verified data sources such as reports, PDF files, databases and more, to solve their business issues, with virtually no new programming required."

ABOUT MONARCH DATA PUMP VERSION 8

MDP8 utilizes Datawatch's Monarch "Report Mining" engine, the de facto standard in mining and transforming data buried within existing report output files. Built on Microsoft's .NET framework, MDP8 mines and transforms the data within existing reports, alone or in combination with data from other sources, on a scheduled, fully automated basis, to create and deliver new customized data views matching user needs.

The customized data views created by MDP8 can be uploaded to databases such as SQL Server or Oracle via OLE DB/ODBC, or saved as PDFs, Excel spreadsheets and templates, Access files, CSV files and more. MDP8 reports and files can be delivered via RSS (Really Simple Syndication) news feeds, e-mail, FTP, HTTP, WebDAV and to specified file folders on the network. MDP8 is based on the open Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, allowing faster enterprise deployment and more complete integration with SQL Server, IIS (Internet Information Server), Exchange and other Microsoft solutions.

Monarch Data Pump V8 requires Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP SP1 or Windows 2003 Server, and .NET Framework V1.1+.
