Symbol Technologies Unveils Rugged Cordless Laser Scanners for the Most Extreme Environments

HOLTSVILLE, N.Y., May 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Symbol Technologies, Inc. , the Enterprise Mobility Company(TM), today introduced the advanced data capture industry's most rugged laser cordless scanners for industrial environments. Designed for warehouse, manufacturing and retail applications that require a cordless, yet reliable, scanner in harsh environments, the new LS3478-ER and LS3478-FZ provide increased productivity and real-time data capture capabilities for enterprise mobility systems. The launch of these products further continues Symbol's legacy of innovation and leadership within the advanced data capture industry and provides customers with additional opportunities to enable enterprise mobility.

"The LS3400 family of scanners is designed for customers that need to capture data quickly and efficiently in an industrial environment without being tethered by a cable to a host system," said Bob Sanders, vice president and general manager of Symbol's advanced data capture division. "Symbol is meeting the enterprise mobility needs of its customers with advanced data capture technology that increases worker productivity and reduces the total- cost-of-ownership with less downtime."
The LS3478-FZ scanner features fuzzy logic technology to increase productivity by providing accurate and fast reading of damaged, dirty and poorly printed bar codes typically found in industrial environments. The LS3478-ER scanner offers versatility reading bar codes as close as four inches and as far as 45 feet away.
The new LS3478-ER and LS3478-FZ rugged cordless scanners are based on Bluetooth technology, sealed to IP65 specifications against water and dust and have the ability to withstand multiple 6.5 foot drops to concrete making them well suited for various industrial applications including shipping/receiving, inventory management, asset tracking and fork lift applications.

Symbol's Global Services Division offers services designed to increase uptime and meet the support requirements of mobile products in the enterprise. Services developed to meet the specific needs of the LS3400 family in an enterprise setting include Service Center Bronze for support, timely repair, and maintenance and Service Center Gold for an even quicker and efficient next-day replacement option.
Both the LS3478-ER and LS3478-FZ are available immediately.
