Business Objects Awarded Blanket Purchase Agreement by Department of Defense

SAN JOSE, Calif. & PARIS --(Business Wire)-- May 23, 2005 -- Business Objects is the First Business Intelligence Vendor to be Included on the Department of Defense Enterprise Software Initiative List of Software Vendors

Business Objects (Nasdaq:BOBJ)(Euronext Paris ISIN code:FR0004026250-BOB), the world's leading provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions, has been awarded a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) by the United States Department of Defense (DoD). This agreement was signed by the Defense Logistics Agency on behalf of the Department of Defense Enterprise Software Initiative (ESI), a joint DoD project designed to streamline software procurement across all DoD Components. Business Objects is the first BI vendor to be included on the DoD ESI list of software vendors.



Under the terms of the agreement, all DoD agencies can take advantage of the BPA to procure Business Objects solutions and services. As an Enterprise Software Agreement under the DoD ESI, this vehicle must now be considered first by DoD customers with requirements for business intelligence software. Business intelligence enables DoD agencies to improve performance by providing better visibility into their personnel, supply chain, financial systems, training, and other assets. Business Objects' current customers within the DoD include the Air Force Knowledge System, Army Criminal Investigation Division, Defense Logistics Agency, Defense Information Systems Agency, Military Health System, Department of Defense Standard Procurement System, Navy Personnel Command, Office of the Secretary of Defense, and U.S. Naval Academy. Business Objects is also a leading BI provider to federal civilian customers including the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Labor, Department of Justice, Department of Health and Human Services, and Department of Treasury.
