Intellisync Announces Expanded Mobile Platform With Launch of Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Intellisync Corporation , a leading developer and marketer of wireless email and mobile software, today announced at Microsoft Mobile & Embedded DevCon 2005 that it will support Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 to deliver wireless email and mobile enterprise applications through Intellisync's Mobile Suite(TM). This announcement is in keeping with the company's strategy to extend enterprise platforms and applications, and reflects the demand from Intellisync enterprise customers using Microsoft software who want to extend their Intellisync platform across their organizations.
"Windows Mobile 5.0 is an ideal software platform for enterprise messaging and mobility products such as those offered from Intellisync," said Chris Hill, group product manager for the Mobile and Embedded Devices Division at Microsoft Corp. "Intellisync has a long history of supporting Microsoft products, and the value Intellisync brings to their enterprise and mobile operator customers should only increase with the enhanced flexibility, extensibility and features of Windows Mobile 5.0."
Intellisync has worked closely with device manufacturers, mobile operators and Microsoft to ensure seamless integration with their products. Several leading manufacturers will be shipping Intellisync software with Windows Mobile 5.0-based devices, making the rich features of Mobile Suite available to customers, including wireless push email, security, mobile systems management and a range of mobile enterprise applications.
"The award-winning Intellisync mobile platform takes advantage of new capabilities in Windows Mobile 5.0 to extend devices' security, wireless access to backend corporate data and enterprise usability," said Bill Jones, vice president of product management for Intellisync. "We have collaborated with Microsoft closely over the years and are delighted to continue our support of Microsoft mobility platforms. Intellisync customers will appreciate the additional functionality in Windows Mobile 5.0 and Intellisync's full support of it."
Intellisync's continued support of the Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 launch is viewed by some analysts as a positive step for both companies; one that signals a major shift in the evolving wireless industry. "The key to a successful mobile enterprise is interconnection amongst sometimes disparate applications, leveraging the strengths of each platform for maximum advantage," said Jack Gold, principal analyst at J.Gold Associates, formerly of Meta Group/Gartner. "Enterprises are being drawn to consider many incomplete or isolated applications for email, application extension, security and management. It is imperative that enterprises leverage the strengths of products that are market leaders and which enable integration with others, or risk being left with orphaned products. Intellisync is a clear market leader for wireless in the enterprise sector, and Microsoft's substantial installed base is well-established. We see Intellisync's move to support Windows Mobile 5.0 as a good move for both companies, providing both Intellisync and Microsoft further advantage over competitors in the wireless solutions market."
