Sensis will also use LSSi IDA Gateway Service to provide access to international telephone listings to 24 countries for Australian Directory Assistance. LSSi's IDA Gateway Service enables participating carriers and Directory Assistance service providers to find international telephone listings faster and more efficiently. LSSi's IDA Gateway Service provides electronic access to 24 national telephone databases through a single, LSSi-brokered agreement. Having a single access point is a major improvement over the alternative of having to set up a multitude of separate access agreements with national telecoms around the world. LSSi's Gateway Service provides access to four databases maintained by LSSi itself (U.S., Canada, Italy, and the U.K.) and to twenty other national databases maintained by foreign carriers. Prior to the LSSi agreement, Sensis provided access to Australia's fixed-line and mobile telephone listings by means of the company's own X.25 links. The introduction of LSSi's IDA Gateway Service simplifies access to Australian listing data by using TCP/IP over virtual private networks. This state-of-the-art electronic bridge significantly reduces the search time required to find and deliver a desired target listing, cutting typical search times to just milliseconds.
