HORSHAM, Pa., May 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Motorola, Inc. Broadband Services Router (BSR) 64000 has received PacketCable(TM) Multimedia Qualification within DOCSIS(R) 2.0 from CableLabs(R) in the recently completed Certification Wave 34.
PacketCable is a CableLabs-led initiative that is aimed at developing interoperable interface specifications for delivering advanced, real-time multimedia services over a two-way cable plant. Built on top of the industry's highly successful cable modem infrastructure, PacketCable networks use Internet protocol (IP) technology to enable a wide range of multimedia services, such as IP telephony, multimedia conferencing, interactive gaming, and general multimedia applications.
The qualification recognizes the Motorola BSR 64000 as a Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) / edge router able to support a variety of IP-based multimedia services and applications requiring guaranteed quality of service (QoS) levels. The BSR 64000 joins a growing family of Motorola products that are certified or qualified for interoperability with the DOCSIS and PacketCable specifications, including the SBV5220 voice-enabled cable modem.
