Wizzard Software Announces Rx Consultants To Use Rex-The Talking Bottle For Patients
PITTSBURGH --(Business Wire)-- March 9, 2005 -- Wizzard Software (OTCBB:WIZD) and MedivoxRx Technologies announced today that Rx Consultants will use Rex-The Talking Bottle Starter and Refill kits for their clients. Rx Consultants is a consultant pharmacy practice based out of Nebraska that provides senior health care to patients in private homes, assisted living facilities and nursing homes.
Owned by Dr. Jim Dickerson, Rx Consultants serves three nursing homes, ten assisted living facilities, and many private patients in their homes. Dickerson, who has been a pharmacist for over 40 years, maintains a part time faculty position at the Creighton University School of Pharmacy. He also acts as a consultant for the Creighton University Medical Center. Dickerson will use Rex primarily for his private patients.
"Right now I have patients with macular degeneration, as well as mild dementia, and they get confused about meds," said Dickerson. "They needed something to help them take their medications properly. Some of the medicines get kind of complicated, and if they use 2 or 3 of those, they get kind of confused about what you may have told them or what somebody else told them. Rex will help people begin taking their medications properly."
Dickerson sees Rex as being an advantage to people who take multiple medications.
"How we take medications is becoming more and more complex, and how we take medications is becoming more important, such as when to take it and what other medication it interacts with," notes Dickerson. "As more and more people are diagnosed with macular degeneration and diabetes, this will become an even bigger issue. My hope is that Rex will help them maintain their drugs better."
Gene Franz, General Manager, Solutions and Channels for MedivoxRx Technologies, adds, "Dr. Dickerson is truly reaching out by bringing his services to the elderly at their place of residence. He customizes his services. And Rex, which can be customized for each patient and prescription, is a perfect complement. Using Rex to ensure that the medications he dispenses are used properly and to their best advantage clearly demonstrates his consultative approach and the power of Rex."
Rex-The Talking Bottle is an innovative assistive device that allows users to "hear" recorded medication instructions. Using a special recording device, instructions are recorded into the base of the bottle. Instructions can then be heard by simply pushing the button located on the side of the bottle. Completely portable, disposable and easy to use, Rex is perfect not only for the visually and cognitively impaired, but anyone who can't read or understand their medication label instructions.
