NexTone's Session Management Technologies Showcased as Part of IBM's IMS Demonstration at Supercomm
CHICAGO --(Business Wire)-- June 7, 2005 -- NexTone Communications(R), the leader in scalable session management of real-time IP services such as voice over IP (VoIP), today announced that the company's new IP Multimedia Exchange (IMX) and Real-time Session Manager (RSM) will play key roles in IBM's IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) demonstration at Supercomm. IBM and eight of its industry-leading partners, including NexTone, will demonstrate an example of a turnkey IMS offering during the tradeshow, June 6-9, 2005.
IMX will be featured in NexTone's booth, #77062, and interconnect to the IMS demonstration at IBM's booth, #64045. At its booth, IBM will bring together NexTone's RSM blade server platform, in addition to six other IBM partner solutions, in order to demonstrate multi-vendor interoperability and real-world IMS solutions that are available today. The IBM IMS demonstration will illustrate how service providers can better deploy VoIP services today by hosting NexTone's session management technology on the IBM BladeCenter-T. The demonstration will also show how service providers can quickly add differentiating applications, such as pre-paid gaming, in a cost-effective and simple way and generate additional revenues by increasing the ROI of their VoIP networks.
"We are committed to developing and delivering a comprehensive platform of solutions that help service providers deliver multimedia services and applications from their IMS networks," said Stephen Laufer, Global Partner and Solutions Manager, IBM Network Transformation and Service Delivery Platforms. "Our IMS demonstration, with members of our PartnerWorld Telecommunications Industry Network, is an example of IBM's commitment to delivering IMS solutions based on open standards, industry-leading technologies."
"NexTone's customers are already using our products to implement IMS-like networks that deliver VoIP services," said Dan Dearing, vice president of marketing, NexTone. "Emerging IMS networks require highly intelligent session control and traffic engineering capabilities that allow carriers to manage multiple services and applications over a converged IP network while offering PSTN-like QoS. The IBM IMS Demonstration is an example of how carriers can evolve their existing VoIP networks to emerging IMS frameworks. As a result, carriers can gain increased revenue opportunities and a true path to profitability."
NexTone's IMX is specifically designed to simplify the interconnection between existing VoIP networks and emerging IMS service delivery frameworks. NexTone's IMX provides a cost-effective way to manage the rapid growth of traffic between wireline carriers and mobile operators, while enabling new business models for network and service expansion and creating new sources of revenue. When combined with NexTone's RSM platform, which provides application awareness and call state control for IMS networks, the IMX can deliver end-to-end QoS for any real-time application across VoIP and IMS networks.
