IT Industry Visionary James Firestone to Deliver Keynote Address at CompTIA Breakaway 2005 Conference
OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. --(Business Wire)-- June 1, 2005 -- The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) today announced that James Firestone, president of Xerox North America, will deliver the keynote address at the association's annual Breakaway conference, the information technology (IT) industry's premiere partnering event for IT business leaders, resellers, manufacturers, distributors, and solutions providers. This year's conference is scheduled for August 3-5 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Firestone, appointed president of Xerox North America in October 2004, is responsible for all direct and indirect channels of distribution in the United States and Canada. This includes sales and service, agents, resellers, and teleweb, as well as integration between distribution channels and Xerox Global Services.
"James Firestone has a clear vision of how people empowered with the right technologies can improve work processes and make organizations more productive," said John Venator, president and chief executive officer, CompTIA. "He is a passionate advocate for the IT industry and a champion for strong vendor-channel relationships. His message is one that Breakaway attendees will find compelling."
Prior to his appointment as president of Xerox North America, Firestone served as chief strategist and president of the company's Corporate Operations Group, where he was responsible for corporate strategy and operational support initiatives. Firestone played a key role in developing Xerox's aggressive, multibillion-dollar turnaround plan in 2000, and has since helped lead the company's transformation.
CompTIA Breakaway 2005 offers attendees opportunities to hear from top industry executives on the latest technology trends and new strategies for growing a business. The conference combines general sessions, educational forums and panel discussions to present attendees with relevant business development strategies and best practices that can be used to positively impact their day-to-day operations. Leading IT vendors are on hand in the Breakaway Solutions Pavilion to discuss with attendees their channel programs and offer ideas on how to make money with their products.
In addition, CompTIA will present its 2005 Industry Contribution awards in the categories of leadership, teamwork, innovation, and creativity.
