Psytechnics Opens First Test Lab for Voice and Video Quality ResearchBOSTON --(Business Wire)-- July 12, 2005 -- Psytechnics, the global leader in voice and video quality assessment software, has opened the world's first in-house multimedia Subjective Test Facility at its worldwide research and development headquarters in Ipswich, United Kingdom. The facility is continually used by Psytechnics to build upon the world's most comprehensive database of subjective tests for voice, video and multimedia, for both listening and conversational modes. Psytechnics' builds its perceptual models on real customer experience tests, the more tests the more accurate the models become. With over 250,000 subjective tests in the database products can be tested for accuracy against. "Psytechnics is the only voice and video assessment company who undertakes testing as exhaustive as this," said John Winchester, Chief Executive Officer for Psytechnics. "The sheer quantity of testing we perform has made the decision to open our own test suites a simple one from a cost perspective, while clearly supporting our commitment to differentiate our products and bring constant innovation to our carrier customers. After all, if you claim to reflect user opinion, then you need to undertake subjective testing to prove your product's accuracy." Psytechnics' test results have been compared to subjective test facilities results from other leading laboratories, confirming the compatibility of the laboratory with others. Psytechnics will offer the use of the premises to third-party equipment vendors that want to ensure that their products and solutions are compatible with the special equipment or network environments that their customers require. The results of the tests under specific network conditions will help manufacturers improve the performance and compatibility of their products. In addition, carriers, enterprises and industry bodies can use the facility to conduct their own tests on equipment that they are considering deploying to build out and assure their networks. This will help deliver more robust equipment/OSS evaluation programs to be supplemented with actual "user experience" metrics in the growing VoIP and 3G segment.
