LucidLink Triples Automatic Configuration Capabilities, Simplifying Wireless Security with Easy Hardware Setup
ANN ARBOR, Mich. --(Business Wire)-- Feb. 22, 2005 -- Version 2.1 Expands Easy Deployment Options for Home & Business Networks
Interlink Networks has upgraded its LucidLink(TM) Wireless Security software for wireless home and business networks with a series of new features that expand the system's easy deployment capabilities. The new Version 2.1 nearly triples the number of wireless access points that can be configured automatically, adds automatic configuration of selected routers for the first time, and streamlines installation of the LucidLink application when a wireless network is already in place.
The upgrade enhances LucidLink's status as the first 802.11 WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) solution to reduce Wi-Fi setup, security and maintenance to a few steps requiring no little or no technical assistance. The software thwarts wireless eavesdroppers using the same 802.1X, WPA-enterprise, and 802.11i standards-based security employed by Fortune 2000 companies, yet it performs operations such as enrolling and removing users with just two clicks. It scales from three users to 250, and is a fraction of the price of enterprise solutions.
Expanded Autoconfiguration
With the expanded autoconfiguration support in Version 2.1, LucidLink now intelligently configures 11 access points and routers from 3COM, D-Link and Linksys that represent the majority of the leading wireless network devices designed for the home and small/medium business markets. This increases hardware choices for LucidLink users who wish to utilize the system's automatic network configuration capabilities to dramatically simplify setup and reduce the risk of installation errors that can compromise security.
The new auto-support for routers is particularly important for home office professionals because routers are the most common wireless device in the home office environment. LucidLink also provides manual configuration guides for 17 other access points and routers, thereby supporting a total of 28 devices from the leading vendors.
Other New Features
LucidLink Version 2.1 also adds several additional features to simplify installation and updates to the network. The software can now be deployed on an existing wireless network without discarding and resetting configurations of pre-installed access points and routers. In addition, autoconfiguration updates can be downloaded over the Internet as new hardware devices are supported, enabling users to change or add hardware without waiting for the next LucidLink release.
The new version also adds a variety of menu and interface simplifications for ease of use.
"This upgrade to our LucidLink product continues our mission of reducing wireless security to a series of simple operations that can be performed by non-technical users," said Mike Klein, CEO of Interlink Networks. "The significant expansion to the number of devices we can autoconfigure is another step on the road to removing barriers to implementing wireless security and thereby ensuring safe passage for information sent or received over the wireless link."
