The European Commission today cleared the proposed acquisition of Siebel Systems by Oracle Corporation. The EC concluded that the transaction would not significantly damage the European Economic Area. Oracle is a software company that specialises in database products and application software solutions for enterprises. Siebel offers customer relationship management (CRM) software for a variety of industry sectors. The EC decided that widely-used open standards make it unlikely that the merged company would impose restrictions on Siebel CRM customers that use non-Oracle databases. The EC also stated that the merger would not materially affect customers ability to choose among competing CRM software vendors. |
