Ensim Corp on headhunting spree

(Ecomonic Times, The (India) (KRT)) Dec. 22--PUNE, India -- Ensim Corporation, the venture capital-backed software developer for web-hosting services company, is on a hiring spree. Ensim, founded by Kanwal Rekhi, has received $85 million from some leading venture capital funds. However, Mr Rekhi has now exited from the company.

"We need to add 100 people by the next December to take our total to 200. We need to look at inorganic growth to reach that number," Sandip Phadke, general manager, India operations, Ensim, said. He indicated that they would prefer to acquire a Pune-based product company and are in talks with some of them.

Sandip Gupta, president and CEO, Ensim, added that they had a fully funded business plan. However, they may need to look for further venture capital by late 2007 if they accelerate the business plan and address regions like eastern Europe and Asia.

"We are selling in western Europe and the US, our two primary markets. We could need funding if we want to address eastern Europe and Asia," he remarked.

Ensim Pro, which is a single server hosting automation software, has been developed, sold and supported from the Pune centre. It has been possible since it is targeted at smaller server and lends itself to tele-marketing. The management is planning to move its flagship product Ensim Unify, which is a multi-service delivery platform for web and application hosting, to Pune.

"Following the acquisition of a company from the Boston area, six months ago, we are now able to offer all features, including VoIP as a hosted offering. Over the next year, we will move the product development activity here," Mr Gupta stated. He added that they would prefer to expand their product line, remaining focused on the telecom vertical, instead of entering other verticals.
