3Com anticipates growth in VoIP sales

(Business Times (Malaysia))3COM Corp, a leading provider of secure, converged voice and data networking solutions, has targeted a 200 per cent growth in sales of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) solutions to small- and medium-sized businesses in the next six months. 3Com Asia Ltd country manager Marcus Lai said this sales boost would contribute 5-6 per cent of the revenue from Malaysia.



"We anticipate growth from businesses linked with trading, warehousing, insurance, pharmaceuticals and education," he said at a media briefing after signing a distributorship agreement with Jardine OneSolution Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

For the first nine months of the year, 3Com's Malaysian operations contributed about RM45.36 million in revenue.



Jardine OneSolution extends 3Com's reach into the strategic VoIP market through its extensive links with value-added resellers.

The distributorship agreement will see Jardine OneSolution market 3Com's range of voice solutions products in Malaysia. These products include 3Com NBX v3000 PoE Bundle and 3Com NBX v5000 IP Telephony Solution.

Targeted at small- and medium-sized businesses with less than 500 users, 3Com's NBX systems helps organisations cut intra-company long-distance communication costs, while improving efficiency and productivity. By leveraging a data network that today may only move e-mail and files, companies can affordably call between sites, transfer callers, and send voicemail messages to one or more users located in multiple offices.

Jardine OneSolution distribution general manger Andrew Lee described the partnership as a step towards building a competitive edge in the market-place.
