Internap Awarded Additional US Patent for Private Network Access Point Design; Proprietary P-NAP Architecture Enables Migration of Mission-Critical Applications to IP Networks

ATLANTA --(Business Wire)-- Aug. 29, 2005 -- Internap(R) Network Services Corporation (AMEX:IIP), a leading provider of performance-based routing solutions over the Internet, today announced that it has been awarded a new US patent relating to its Private Network Access Point(R) (P-NAP), a central element within its unique Internet architecture which provides visibility and seamless interconnectivity across IP Networks. Wheeler et. al. U.S. Patent No. 6,912,222 B1 details the improvement of routing technology which allows the exchange of traffic through the Internap P-NAP to optimize connectivity.

Internap provides the industry's only IP solution that connects up to eight major Tier-1 backbones to enable redundant, high-bandwidth connectivity across the Internet. P-NAPs are an assembly of proprietary routers, servers and switches, which combine to intelligently route traffic across an inherently multi-homed network to avoid congestion problems, degradations and outages. Customers can seamlessly connect to a P-NAP via local loops or colocate within an Internap data center for resilient, reliable and predictable IP performance.

"Receipt of this new P-NAP patent demonstrates our leadership as a pioneer of high-performance IP solutions," said Gregory A. Peters, president and chief executive officer, Internap. "By strategically deploying additional P-NAPs around the globe, Internap remains responsive to the growing needs of over 2,000 customers by proactively managing the network to avoid Internet disruptions which can negatively impact operational efficiency, user satisfaction and profitability."

In addition to its P-NAP design, Internap enhances its IP portfolio by providing 24x7x365 world-class, proactive Network Operations Center (NOC) support. The company's industry-leading SLAs include 100% network availability across the public Internet, less than 45 milliseconds latency, and less than 0.5 milliseconds jitter for customers within the US. The SLA also includes less than 0.3% packet loss across all of its geographies. To date, the Internap P-NAP footprint serves worldwide locations including Australia, Boston, Chicago, Hong Kong, New York and Seattle, among others.

"Since its inception nearly a decade ago, Internap has recognized the need to provide capabilities that go beyond the de facto standard routing protocol," Peters added. "In conjunction with our intelligent routing solutions, NOC support and leading SLAs, Internap's robust P-NAP architecture provides the assurance customers demand to deploy mission-critical applications across the public Internet."
