lynda.com to Acquire FlashforwardOJAI, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Aug. 5, 2005 -- Flashforward, the world's first and longest-running conference and film festival focused exclusively on Macromedia Flash(R), announced today that lynda.com, Inc. is acquiring the company, after a six-year partnership with United Digital Artists. Flashforward was founded in 2000 by lynda.com and United Digital Artists (UDA), and is sponsored by Macromedia, the creator of the Flash(R) platform, as well as numerous other exhibitors and vendors. Flashforward has produced 14 conferences, which have collectively attracted more than 20,000 Flash developers and designers worldwide. In addition, the Flash(R) Film Festival has presented over 200 awards to top-designed Flash sites and applications, to winners from over 30 countries. Lynda Weinman, founder of lynda.com, takes over the reins of Flashforward immediately and has already begun planning the 2006 West and East Coast conferences. Stewart McBride, the founder of United Digital Artists who moved to Paris two years ago, will be producing design and technology events in Europe.
