Westcon Launches SecurityPoint, Combining Industry Leading Product Solutions with Proven Selling Methodologies
TARRYTOWN, N.Y. --(Business Wire)-- April 27, 2005 -- Ten Industry Leading Security Vendors Sponsor Unprecedented Channel Effort to Help Solution Providers Take Security Sales to the Next Level
Westcon Group, Inc., a multi-national distributor of networking technology products, announced that its Westcon division has launched SecurityPoint, a program designed to help solution providers increase their success by taking their security solution selling to the next level. The program, which is sponsored by ten of Westcon's industry-leading manufacturer partners, includes a multi-city road show and comprehensive selling tools that provide solution providers with the latest products and techniques required to succeed in today's security market.
Westcon's security portfolio is unique in the marketplace, consisting of ten leading security vendors including Blue Coat Systems, Crossbeam, Enterasys, Fortinet, Nortel Networks, Nokia, RSA Security, Radware, Secure Computing, and Check Point. Additionally, Westcon is the world's leading distributor of Check Point solutions. When combined with Westcon's advanced Layered Security selling methodologies, these product solutions offer some of the most compelling security solutions available on the market today.
SecurityPoint is designed to help solution providers move beyond the "Firewall & VPN" mentality and closer toward one that achieves a secure IP infrastructure through a combination of holistic product solutions. The SecurityPoint road show begins in the Boston area on April 27th and events are currently scheduled to run through June in multiple locations throughout the United States. Bryant Tow of the FBI's Infraguard Unit will be a featured speaker.
SecurityPoint embraces Westcon's Layered Security methodology which holds that network infrastructures must be defended on several distinct fronts with a total complementary solution. Today's security challenges fall into four broad categories: threat defense, trust and identity, secure communications and management. While these challenges may be present on any network, certain vertical markets such as healthcare, education and financial services often require a deeper level of understanding and more specialized solution approach.
Duncan Potter, vice president of worldwide marketing for Westcon Group, Inc., commented: "SecurityPoint is a new program through which we are able to combine the channel's leading security solutions with Westcon's advanced selling and logistical expertise, directly enhancing our solution provider customers' ability to compete and succeed in the security market. The framework for this program is made possible through our unrivaled portfolio of security partners, our staff's advanced technical proficiency and our consultative sales engagement strategy."
By participating in the program, resellers also gain access to several tools including sales and solutions guides, a comprehensive SecurityPoint sales guide and a security checklist used to find customer network security vulnerabilities. Resellers interested in attending local events or participating in SecurityPoint should visit the SecurityPoint website at www.westcon.com/securitypoint, or contact Lucy Testa, Westcon marketing specialist, at (914) 829-7654.
