Broadcom Expands Channel Partnerships for Its RAIDCore(TM) Family of RAID Controller Cards

IRVINE, Calif., April 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Broadcom Corporation , a global leader in wired and wireless broadband communications semiconductors, today announced that it has entered into sales agreements with D&H Distributing and Partners in Europe (PIE) to sell Broadcom(R) RAIDCore(TM) RAID controller cards. Complementing Broadcom's existing team of RAID storage distributors, these additional channel partners expand sales coverage in the United States and Europe, respectively, and ensure that value-added resellers (VARs) and systems integrators are provided with excellent service, competitively priced solutions and superior support for Broadcom RAID and storage products.

D&H Distributing signed a distribution agreement while PIE signed a representation agreement, enabling both to sell Broadcom's RAIDCore family of BC4000 RAID controller cards and XelCore(TM) RAID software, as well as future storage products.
The RAIDCore RC4000 controllers enable businesses to expand or upgrade their storage systems using low-cost, high-capacity SATA or high-performance SAS drives without interrupting operations. These products support all popular RAID levels, online capacity expansion, online RAID-level migration and controller spanning, and provide the ability to create arrays that span multiple controllers without having to bring the system down. The BC4000 RAID controllers are consistently recognized by independent testing labs for their superior performance, high reliability and robust enterprise-class RAID features.
"Broadcom RAID controllers reduce reseller/integrator development costs, reduce the qualification effort, accelerate time-to-market and provide tremendous flexibility in meeting customers' price-performance requirements," said Michael Schwab, Vice President of Purchasing for D&H Distributing. "As an example, once Broadcom's recently announced RAID-on-Chip technology is introduced in a controller card format, resellers/integrators will be able to develop single system storage solutions that support both SATA and SAS drives."
"After years of representing alternate RAID controller technologies, we will now focus exclusively on RAIDCore BC4000 RAID controller solutions," said Kieran Sheahan, CEO for Partners in Europe. "Broadcom's leadership in high- speed serial communications is critical for such storage interfaces as SATA, SAS and PCI Express(R), and will enable it to continually differentiate itself in quality, performance and integration."
"D&H and PIE have demonstrated exceptional prior success in working with storage VARs and system integrators. Their combination of market strength, channel knowledge and vertical expertise will help us to communicate the performance advantages of fully integrated RAID silicon and software solutions," said Michael McDonald, Broadcom's Senior Marketing Director of Storage Channel Products. "Our new partners complement our existing distribution channel which includes Bell Microproducts in the U.S., Ideal Hardware in Europe, and over 30 major reseller partners, allowing the RAIDCore BC4000 RAID controller series to be more accessible to customers throughout the world."
