ZyXEL Bolsters Cable Gateway Product Line, Forges into Residential Market
SAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)-- April 4, 2005 -- ZyXEL Prestige 974SW is the All-in-One Broadband Solution for MSOs to Deploy Residential Service with New CableHome 1.1 Standard
ZyXEL Communications, a leading provider of broadband access solutions, today unveils its new line of residential cable products at the 2005 National Cable and Telecommunications Association (NCTA) Show. Expanding upon its complete line of commercial cable products, ZyXEL will feature its new Prestige 974SW residential cable gateway that integrates a cable modem, router, switch, and Wireless Access Point (WPA) all in one box. ZyXEL's Prestige 974SW provides users with a constant connection to a secure network with the convenience and flexibility of wireless Internet access all in one. The Prestige family of residential products also includes Prestige 971R, a cable modem with integrated router, as well as Prestige 971M, a standard cable modem.
The newly introduced ZyXEL Prestige 974SW is CableHome(R) 1.1 and DOCSIS2.0/1.1(R) certified and is customizable enabling Multiple Service Operators (MSOs) to provide additional value-added services. The integrated access device has a built-in 802.11g/11b Access Point with 54Mbps fast wireless connectivity. The Prestige 974SW implements all CableHome 1.1 features including remote configuration through SNMP and HTTP to simplify system deployment and advanced security and encryption. The Prestige 974SW provides safe Internet surfing with parental control including URL filtering, and keyword filtering. It also features Quality of Service (QoS) and Application Discovery on the home network.

ZyXEL, already well established in the commercial cable market with a number of major cable service operator customers including Time Warner and Charter among others, will also be displaying its Prestige 964 Commercial Cable Series at NCTA. The top-selling P-964S cable gateway with integrated modem and 5-port 10/100Mbps auto MDI/MDIX Ethernet switch will be displayed at the show. ZyXEL is also showing its P-964APR, a wireless cable gateway with integrated modem, fast 802.11g Access Point, and a 4-port 10/100Mbps auto MDI/MDIX Ethernet switch. It enables end users to have a total broadband access solution with complete wired and wireless network.
Along with the Prestige line of residential and commercial cable offerings, ZyXEL is showcasing end-to-end solutions for businesses, the hospitality industry and residential complexes at the NCTA show. Featured at the show are several products from their Security, Managed Switches, VoIP, Broadband Gateway, and Wireless product lines.
Availability
The Prestige 971 series and Prestige 974SW will be available in the second quarter of 2005.
