CTIA-The Wireless Association(TM) Elects Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, D.C. --(Business Wire)-- Sept. 29, 2005 -- CTIA-The Wireless Association President and CEO Steve Largent announced today that Sprint Nextel COO Len Lauer has been elected the wireless industry trade group's new Chairman. Mr. Lauer currently serves as the organization's Vice Chairman.



The CTIA Board of Directors formally selected their officers and new members for 2006 while gathered in San Francisco for the CTIA WIRELESS I.T.(R) & Entertainment Show. Mr. Lauer, has who served as Sprint Corporation's president and COO since 2003, will succeed Mr. Terry Addington, President and CEO of First Cellular of Southern Illinois. Mr. Addington will assume the position of President Emeritus.

"There are few people in the industry who have the energy, focus and vision that Terry Addington does," said Largent. "His commitment to ensuring that consumers everywhere are afforded the opportunity to use and enjoy wireless is second to none. Terry has been a tremendous leader, and I want to thank him for his time and effort on behalf of the wireless industry," continued Largent.

Other CTIA officers elected at today's board meeting include Suncom Wireless CEO Michael Kalogris as Vice Chairman, Lucent Mobility Solutions President Cindy Christy as Secretary, and Midwest Wireless President and CEO Dennis Miller as Treasurer.

CTIA also welcomed a number of new industry leaders to the board. They are CEO of Asurion, Mr. Bret Comolli; CEO of Wireless Facilities, Inc., Mr. Eric DeMarco; President and CEO of Openwave Systems, Mr. David Peterschmidt; and President of Bluegrass Cellular, Inc., Mr. Ronald R. Smith.

CTIA is the international association for the wireless telecommunications industry, representing carriers, manufacturers and wireless Internet providers.
