Five Star Quality Care Implements More Than 60 Facilities on Achieve Matrix(R)


EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. --(Business Wire)-- Sept. 29, 2005 -- Achieve Healthcare Technologies(TM) (www.achievehealthcare.com) today announced that it implemented Achieve Matrix in 59 Five Star Quality Care Inc. facilities starting in October 2004.

Beginning in October 2004, Achieve commenced the planning, system configuration and data conversions of 59 assisted living facilities, which started actively using the accounts receivable component of Matrix on Dec. 1, 2004. Since then, FVE implemented 25 additional facilities on Matrix. The components that FVE implemented include admissions and census, accounts receivable, ancillary interface and general ledger export functionalities.


"Achieve was instrumental in the development and implementation of the accounts receivable/billing and clinical information systems used at Five Star," said Jonathan Hood, director of IT for FVE. "One of Achieve's systems, Achieve Matrix, was implemented in more than 60 of Five Star's long-term care communities. They provided industry knowledgeable experts that worked on our behalf to ensure the project was completed within the identified timeframe and budget. Matrix is Achieve's Web-based offering that remedies long-term care challenges through electronic health records, point of care, business intelligence and technology services. It is performing business operations in almost 200 facilities in 10 states.

Achieve has served the technology needs of FVE's assisted living and long-term care facilities since 2000. In addition, FVE operates 155 senior living facilities in 28 states and offers the following services:

Two of Matrix's features help to eliminate paper trails in facilities - electronic health records and point of care. EHR allows staff instant access to patient information and easily transfers patient information from one care setting to another. Point of care is a convenient, portable device that documents the integration of new data with existing records. In July 2004, the healthcare division of U.S. Risk Underwriters announced a five percent discount on professional and general liability premiums to facilities using the Matrix solution.
