IODA Inks Worldwide Digital Distribution Deal with China Record Corporation; First Time Music from Oldest and Largest Record Company of Chinese Government Will Be Available Commercially Outside of China

SAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)-- Sept. 27, 2005 -- IODA -- the Independent Online Distribution Alliance -- today announced a worldwide deal to digitally distribute the music of China Record Corporation (CRC), the Chinese government's oldest and largest record company. The company's partnership with CRC Jianian Cultural Development Co., Ltd, which owns the exclusive worldwide rights to publish and distribute the music of China, marks the first time in history that music from mainland China will be commercially available on a global basis.

Initially, IODA will be working in conjunction with CRC Jianian to bring CRC's rich musical catalog to the estimated 50 million overseas Chinese via its network of over 150 digital music outlets. Additionally, IODA is pursuing new deals with digital music services to reach the 1.3 billion people living in mainland China.

CRC's immeasurable catalog of traditional Chinese ethnic, classical and folk music features over 60,000 releases spanning some 5,000 years of Chinese musical history, and includes the world-renowned Peking operas and a large collection of children's tunes and pop music. Many of the recordings, which date back to the 1920's and 1930's, are the oldest known recordings in China and offer the world a firsthand opportunity to experience China's remarkable culture through ancient instrumentation and compelling storytelling.

"IODA is excited at the opportunity to distribute the vast catalog of the China Record Corporation," said IODA founder and CEO Kevin Arnold. "We are proud to help make China's rich musical history accessible for the first time to scholars, students and fans of Chinese culture around the globe."

"CRC Jianian's partnership with IODA has already proven to be an extremely valuable collaboration for our company," said CRC Jianian's Vice President of Music, Jackie Subeck, "and we are honored and privileged to have the opportunity to present this historical Chinese catalog of music to the global market in the digital age."
