American Idol, Laguna Beach, Real World... Reality TV Fever Hits New Heights When AOL RED For Teens Launches Its Own Reality TV Show -- 'Project Freshman'

DULLES, Va. --(Business Wire)-- Sept. 14, 2005 -- New Online College Reality Show Brings Real Life Drama Of Six Freshman To Computer Screens Across America

Got lap top? Then you've got reality TV. The Real World meets Laguna Beach when six college freshmen document their real life dramas in AOL's RED service for teens new online college reality TV show, Project Freshman. Coming from different backgrounds and attending different universities, each student will document their personal experiences on AOL, with new episodes airing every Thursday.

As the students begin their first semester away from home, they will take on the exciting and challenging task of visually documenting their true experiences - the good, the bad and the ugly. Each student will shoot their own college life footage on a DV Camera, film confessionals, and keep a daily blog posted on the AOL(R) RED(TM) service.

"This is a must-see for any college freshman or high school senior, and since each episode is available on-demand, it is perfect for any busy teens schedule," said Malcolm Bird, Senior Vice President and General Manager AOL Teens & Kids. "Their reports are extremely honest and refreshing and each episode really captures what the first semester of college is really like. This will be a real eye-opener for the RED service's five million teen members."

Beyond the new Project Freshman reality program, AOL keyword: Project Freshman is an entire area dedicated to all things college related, including: Top 11 College Music and lots of other cool college content can be found at AOL Keyword: college.

The cast of six are distinctive and all have their own dreams and fears:

-- Conor, The University of Notre Dame, Indiana - Conor is an Irish-American, Catholic and wants to be President of the United States. He's a self-proclaimed odd ball and overall, this kid lives for his school. Not the parties. Not just girls. He loves Notre Dame.

-- Justin, Dallas Baptist University, Texas - Justin is trying out for the school's football team and hoping to form a band at the same time. His main challenges are being away from his family for the first time and figuring out how to pay for college.

-- Sara, University of Wisconsin, Madison - Sara, AKA 'The Story Teller' is quirky and intelligent and must maintain a 3.0 GPA to keep her scholarship. She is unsure and insecure about how to do that. Sara doesn't know the answer to the big college freshman question, "How do college classes compare to high school classes?"

-- David, University of Missouri, Columbia - David was adopted into a large family with five other siblings and is concerned about being 'alone' at college. David will do whatever it takes to make his dream of becoming a sports writer come true.

-- Brenna, Marshall University, Hunnington, W. Virginia - Brenna also wants to be President of the United States. She's a tough-minded girl from the outskirts of a small town who is sick of the stereotype that country folk are all hillbillies. She received a scholarship and is taking out school loans to pay for college.

-- Jessica, University of Florida, Gainesville - Jessica doesn't know a single soul at UF and she's traveling over 1000 miles away from her parents, her younger sister and baby brother, whom she fears will forget her. Jessica is truly torn over her upcoming semester away for the first time.

Project freshman is produced by 2C Media, a full-service production company whose major clients include AOL and FOX Twentieth Television.
