Webcasters Create Live Streaming Media Katrina Emergency Information PortalWASHINGTON, Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Webcasting Association (IWA) today announced that it is working with major broadcasters, news organizations, ISPs, technology companies, IWA members, and relief support organizations across the country to create a live streaming media Emergency Katrina Information Portal at: http://www.webcasters.org/. Webcasters.org now serves as a streaming aggregation and information portal that provides the latest links to live Katrina Relief broadcasts and Gulf Coast radio and TV station, web audio and video feeds from news outlets, ham radio operators, and citizen journalists, as well as podcasts and even videoblogs covering the relief efforts in the Gulf of Mexico. Help for Any Gulf Broadcaster or Journalist in Need To assist those who need to communicate to the outside world about the situation, the IWA has assembled donated call-in facilities, a studio with production facilities in Houston (and elsewhere), and if needed, extra streaming bandwidth. All that is necessary is a phone line to call in audio, or access to email to send files. The IWA is equipped to receive just about any feed that can be provided, even satellite. The Emergency Katrina Streaming Information Portal is a joint, non-partisan industry effort to assist those in need, facilitated by the IWA.
