Sage Introduces Extended Family

By DAVID R. BUTCHER, Assistant Editor, Customer Interaction Solutions

Sage Software this morning introduced new members to its family. The company formerly known as Best Software announced additions to its now extended family with the new ACT! by Sage 2006 contact and customer management product family.

New family member No. 1: ACT! by Sage Premium for Workgroups 2006 solution, which offers robust contact management and customer management tools for sales teams and corporate workgroups. ACT! Premium for Workgroups functions as an organization’s central repository for critical customer information. High-impact sales professionals, who manage high-value customer relationships requiring personalized attention, can track opportunities from initial prospecting through closed sale using standard or customized processes. New functionality for user and workgroup productivity includes advanced company and group tree view, customized opportunity fields, enhanced attachment synchronization and additional e-mail integration options. New features for deployment, administration and security include silent installation, automatic database back-up and sync, and custom user permissions.

New family member No. 2: ACT! by Sage 2006, the contact and customer management solution for individuals and small businesses of one to 10 networked users. Sage’s ACT! is used by more than 2.5 million users worldwide, according to the company. Additions to ACT! 2006 were designed and offered to both "enrich the user experience and simplify database administration." New features include advanced company and group tree view; easier options for managing associations regarding contacts, groups and companies; and expanded accounting link integrations. ACT! was designed to more quickly and easily assist users in organizing contact details, notes, histories, appointments and documents required to build and sustain successful customer relationships. ACT! data fields, contact views, calendar options, sales forecasting and opportunity-tracking capabilities can be used as is or can be customized to address various business requirements.

In addition to the above two new extended-family members, Sage further announced more than 40 add-on applications (because even new in-laws and second-cousins have something to offer) to extend functionality of both ACT! by Sage 2006 and ACT! by Sage Premium for Workgroups 2006. The new add-on products target further enhancement of individual productivity and team collaboration for ACT! users by offering a range of communications, sales, marketing, mapping, help desk, synchronization, administrative and productivity features. Each ACT! Add-on solution has been reviewed by Sage Software and, according to the company, “works easily within or alongside the new ACT! 2006 product family.” ACT! 2006 Add-on product solutions are available at www.actsolutions.com

The Sage Group plc is Sage Software’s parent (company). For more information about Sage Software’s new and old products, visit www.sagesoftware.com.
