People in the news(Private Equity Week) Evercore Snares Microsoft Exec Brian Roberts has agreed to join Evercore Partners, after spending the past two years in charge of Microsoft Corp.'s corporate development organization. He will work with Evercore's financial advisory practice, which helps corporate officers and boards of directors enhance shareholder value. Roberts joined Microsoft in January 2001, after having led the corporate development team at Inktomi Corp. Babak Nivi has joined Bessemer Venture Partners as an entrepreneur-in-residence. He previously served as a consultant to Atlas Venture and as an associate at Seed Capital Partners. Bryan Jadot has joined Hercules Technology Growth Capital as a principal in the firm's life sciences group. He previously served as a vice president in the life sciences group of Silicon Valley Bank. Jean Bonnavion has joined Palamon Capital Partners as a vice president focused on opportunities in France. He previously served as a senior consultant in London and Paris for Bain & Co. Quaker BioVentures has promoted Matt Rieke and Richard Kollender each to the role of partner. Quaker also promoted Geeta Vemuri to vice president. Robert Bauer and James Soldano have joined Sterling Investment Partners as analysts. Bauer previously was an analyst in Piper Jaffray's middle-market M&A group and worked as an auditor with Ernst & Young. Soldano was an analyst for international finance with the President's Council of Economic Advisors and, before that, was a corporate finance analyst with Lehman Bros. Sterling recently closed its second fund with $545 million in capital commitments. Amy Castronovo recently left Mobius Venture Capital, where she had served as controller. No word yet on her future plans. Keith Derman and Shawn Saint have joined Energy Investors Funds as senior associates. Derman previously held various roles with PSEG Power and PSEG Global, while Saint served for three years as an associate at GE Energy Financial Solutions. |
