Arroyo Demonstrates Technical Prowess of Arroyo OnDemand at SCTE's Cable-Tec Expo; Features Industry's First 10GigE Demonstration

Arroyo Executives Deliver Technical Papers at Cable Industry's Premier Engineering Show

PLEASANTON, Calif. - May 25, 2005 - Arroyo Video Solutions, Inc., which in January introduced the industry-leading Arroyo OnDemand solution for "Always ON" video on demand (VOD), today announced that it will demonstrate for the first time support of native 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) interfaces at SCTE's (Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers) Cable-Tec Expo in San Antonio, TX, June 15-17, in booth # 1275. Arroyo OnDemand is the first VOD solution to support 10GigE, and the demonstration will also showcase integration with leading providers of 10GigE technologies. Arroyo also announced that its Co-founder, President and CEO Paul Sherer, and Vice President of Technology Dr. John Pickens, will each present a technical white paper at Cable-Tec Expo's Sessions.

Arroyo's demonstration at Cable-Tec will also highlight the "Always ON" benefits of the Arroyo OnDemand architecture, showing how an Arroyo OnDemand network can tolerate the failure of any component, without subscribers suffering any interruption to their VOD services. Arroyo "Always ON" OnDemand is the only solution available on the market today that can offer truly nonstop VOD, with 24x7 delivery. Visitors will be able to see how the network overcomes simulated failures of components, such as Ethernet ports, to the failure of entire servers, with zero impact on the customer's VOD viewing experience.

"We're excited to demonstrate for the first time Arroyo OnDemand's support of 10GigE interfaces, which allows for the delivery of unparalleled levels of performance for VOD services," said Arroyo's Co-founder, President and CEO Paul Sherer. "We are also proud to present two white papers at Cable-Tec Expo this year, one of which discusses exactly how only 10GigE transport can meet the needs of performance and scalability associated with the ever-increasing demand for VOD delivery, and the second white paper offers solutions for operators to address the technical and operational challenges of delivering VOD to smaller markets."

Paul Sherer's paper, entitled "The 10GigE Migration: Designing 10GigE-based Transport Networks for IP Video & VOD," will be presented on Thursday, June 16 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. and Friday, June 17 from noon to 1:15 p.m. during a panel entitled, "10GbE Networks: Designs to Support Advanced Services." This paper will address the upcoming migration of IP networks carrying video and VOD from 1GigE-based transport to 10GigE-based transport.

Dr. John Pickens' paper, entitled "Delivering Big City VOD Packages to Smaller Communities," will be presented on Thursday, June 16 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. and Friday, June 17 from noon to 1:15 p.m. during a panel entitled, "An Economic Approach to Delivering Advanced Services to Smaller Market Systems." This paper will speak to the economics and new architectures that are enabling operators to offer VOD to ever-smaller communities.

Arroyo will be exhibiting in booth # 1275. For more information about Arroyo and its open video platform solutions, or to set-up a meeting during next month's Cable-Tec Expo, please contact [email protected] or call 925.225.2111, extension 210.
