RUSTON and GRAMBLING, La., May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Heralding in a new era in multi-city Wi-Fi Internet access, Ruston and Grambling Louisiana, announced the operations of the nation's first rural multi-city Wi-Fi broadband network. Other cities have announced intent to build similar networks or have announced partial deployments; in contrast, Ruston and Grambling implementation, by Invisi-Wire Broadband Networks, is the first full and complete rural multi-city Wi-Fi deployment in the country.

Grambling Mayor Martha Andrus said, "The multi-city Wi-Fi services provided by Invisi-Wire Broadband Networks will enhance the quality of life for residents, students and tourists and enabling the cities to provide new services that will spur economic development."
Deployed and managed by Invisi-Wire Broadband Networks, a provider of wireless broadband access solutions to rural communities as well as university campuses. The Invisi-Wire system uses a robust multi-radio, multi-frequency, and multi-channel transceivers strategically located to blanket its sixty square miles. Wi-Fi is a technology that gives users the freedom to receive and transmit data over the Internet at high speeds from anywhere within the broadcast signal range. Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) service will also available on the new network.
The rural multi-city WiFi service, which will begin commercial operation in June of 2005, represents a technology first for Invisi-Wire Broadband Network. Invisi-Wire Broadband Networks also is developing many other City- wide Wi-Fi Broadband Networks as well as university deployments. "The cities of Ruston and Grambling demonstrate how the public and private sectors can work together to provide entire rural communities more affordable, easy-to- access internet service," said Invisi-Wire's Broadband Network President Matthew Jones.
"This Wireless broadband service will have a dramatic impact on the way people work, play and communicate around town. Its benefits are many, as it enables new public safety services, attracts businesses, boosts tourism, and supports education," stated Louisiana State representative Richard "Rick" Gallot Jr.
