SUPERCOMM SUPERDemos to Feature Metro Ethernet Forum and Optical Internetworking Forum


ARLINGTON, Va. --(Business Wire)-- May 19, 2005 -- Organizers of SUPERCOMM(R) today announced that members of the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) and the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) will be taking part in the SUPERCOMM SUPERDemos, to be held during SUPERCOMM 2005, June 6-9 in Chicago's McCormick Place.

SUPERDemos offer visitors to the SUPERCOMM exhibit floor the opportunity to view demonstrations of leading-edge technologies in action. Through this live collaboration, SUPERDemo participating companies will create a dynamic, interoperable infrastructure.

Metro Ethernet Forum: Catching the Carrier Ethernet Wave


Members of the Metro Ethernet Forum will demonstrate a variety of applications being supported over a live Ethernet infrastructure. The industry's move to mass deployment of Ethernet will enable dozens of applications that enhance the service provider's value proposition and enable top line growth. These applications include innovative use of voice, video and data for enterprise and residential use. MEF members will demonstrate a full array of solutions for IP-TV, VoIP, business telephony, circuit emulation, Internet access, video conferencing and more.

Optical Internetworking Forum: Seven Global Carriers to Host Ten-week OIF Worldwide Interoperability Demo

Featuring the most comprehensive network test to take place in China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States, the second OIF Worldwide Interoperability Demonstration will be hosted by seven carrier members; including AT&T, China Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom, NTT Laboratories, Telecom Italia and Verizon. The carrier hosts will provide test facilities, engineering staff and real-world network connectivity continuously from mid-April through mid-June, including SUPERCOMM 2005. This year's OIF Worldwide Interoperability Demonstration will highlight solutions for support of Ethernet services over multi-domain SONET/SDH transport networks by employing OIF Implementation Agreements (IAs) in a multi-carrier, multi-vendor environment. Companies participating in the OIF demo during SUPERCOMM include Alcatel, Avici Systems, Ciena Corporation, Cisco Systems, Inc., Fujitsu, Huawei Technologies, Lambda OpticalSystems, Lucent Technologies, Mahi Networks, Marconi, Nortel, Sycamore Networks and Tellabs.

SUPERCOMM is the world's premier annual exhibition and conference for communications service providers and private network managers. This year's event will provide attendees with nine keynotes and three plenary panels - all are free to all attendees. In addition to the SUPERDemos, attendees will also have access to more than 150 hours of educational programs and three days of exhibits. A wide range of fee-based seminars, executive workshops, conferences and presentations on broadband, converged wireless, infrastructure solutions, enterprise networks and more will be presented beginning June 6.
