CARE to Use Fidelio VoIP Services for Communications With Worldwide Teams

PARK RIDGE, Illinois (May, 2. 2005) – The George S. May International Company today announced an initial $30,000 in-kind contribution of new Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) communications equipment and services to CARE, the international poverty-fighting organization. The Fidelio USB telephone and information sharing technology will allow CARE to expand communications capabilities with its staff around the world. At the same time, the technology will help CARE reduce communications support costs.

“CARE is grateful to the G. S. May International Company for its humanitarian spirit and support,” says Richard Prather, CARE’s Chief Information Officer. “VoIP services will serve as an important part of the expansion of CARE’s communications capabilities, providing our organization with a new range of services.”

The VoIP communications services with Fidelio units use a proprietary telephone unit and software to operate through an Internet-connected computer. The service will allow CARE staff to make free calls and exchange information to other Fidelio-equipped CARE locations. It was developed by Florida-based Telvita LLC and is distributed through the George S. May International Company of Park Ridge, Ill.

“The unique Fidelio approach to VoIP allows CARE to create its own Private Network. This network provides audio communications, plus access to any digital document or program on the computer that is being used for the call,” explained Israel Kushnir, president of G.S. May International. “The Private Network allows CARE to conduct conference calls, web seminar training and offers videophone capabilities. Fidelio also can be used to call any traditional land-line telephone or cell phone through the use of a low-cost online calling card.”

CARE is receiving more than $30,000 of telephone equipment and services as an initial donation by the G.S. May International. This amount will increase as the telephone units are distributed to CARE field offices, according to Kushnir.
