CipherTrust Salutes Colonel Robert G. Baker on Being Named to Federal 100 by Federal Computer Week

ATLANTA --(Business Wire)-- March 23, 2005 -- Former Commanding Officer of Marine Corps Network Operations and Security Command Recognized for Outstanding Contributions to Government IT Community

CipherTrust, Inc., the leader in messaging security, today announced Federal Computer Week, a leading government IT publication, has named Colonel Robert G. Baker, Technology Director, Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), and former Commanding Officer of the Marine Corps Network Operations/Security Command (MCNOSC) to its annual Federal 100. Federal Computer Week's Federal 100 awards honor individuals in the private and public sector who drive change and make outstanding contributions to the government IT community.

Colonel Baker was named to the Federal 100 due to his dedication to providing best of breed technology solutions to the Marine Corps, thus playing a key role in the completion of life-saving missions. The winners of the 16th annual Federal 100 awards are being honored at an awards gala at The Ritz Carlton in McLean, Virginia on Wednesday, March 23, 2005.

"Information technology is a key factor in maintaining a modern military and winning the wars of the twenty-first century," said Colonel Robert Baker, Technology Director, Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI). "Assuring that our infrastructure isn't tampered with and doesn't fail is vital. Lives depend on that. E-mail is an essential communication tool for the military and implementing messaging security appliances, such as CipherTrust's IronMail, make sure e-mail is protected and available. Supporting Marines in every clime and place with assured information capabilities is one of our mission essential tasks."

Colonel Baker began his career with the United States Marine Corps in 1976. Since then he has dedicated his life to serving his country and keeping his fellow Marines safe. Having been involved in telecom and network security since the beginning of his career, Colonel Baker is well versed in the types of strategies and technology tools required to secure the military networks.

While with MCNOSC, Colonel Baker was responsible for providing network operations and security capabilities to Marine Corps command centers and troops worldwide. The Colonel works to provide visibility of the Marine Corps information security network twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, ensuring that war fighters do not lose information imperative to completing critical missions. In 2004, he drove the purchase and initial deployment of e-mail security appliances and led his team to evaluate, design, develop and deploy tactical mobile units carrying these appliances in order to provide e-mail communications to Marines down range. With his new role as the Technology Director for NMCI, Colonel Baker will continue to do groundbreaking work with e-mail technology, continuing to strengthen communications and help save lives on the field.

"Colonel Baker's vision and concern for e-mail security have driven the work that he has done while with MCNOSC," said Steve Raber, president and chief executive officer, CipherTrust, Inc. "Because the military networks communicate critical information, the military's e-mail infrastructure must maintain 100 percent uptime, without the chance classified information being compromised. E-mail security appliances, such as CipherTrust's IronMail, prevent such threats from occurring. CipherTrust congratulates Colonel Baker on his foresight, his accomplishments and his award."
