AVM's presentation at CeBIT 2005 sets the spotlight on
phone calling over the Internet: In Hall 13, Stand C48, the Berlin
communications specialist is exhibiting a great number of innovations. For
example, the new flagship of the FRITZ!Box Fon fleet now connects ISDN
telephones to Voice over IP. At the same time, ISDN convenience features such
as alternating between parallel calls, call waiting and three-party calls are
also available in Internet calls. Thanks to fully digital voice transmission
from ISDN phones over the Internet, the digital/analog signal conversion that
impairs voice quality with analog phones is eliminated. Managing Director
Johannes Nill introduced AVM's new flagship at the AVM press conference on
opening day. Nill also offered a look ahead at coming VoIP innovations. In
the future, presence services will make telephone presence and availability
fully customizable. Visitors to the AVM stand can experience the first phone
calls with a sound quality comparable to CDs. According to Nill, political
parameters will be decisive for the success of VoIP. Nill praised the EU
Commission's "light touch" as beneficial for the new technologies.

Another premiere at AVM's fair exhibit is the new FRITZ!Box. The
integrated ADSL router and modem now lets users connect disk drives and
printers. With four Ethernet ports and a USB interface, the new Box offers
ideal connectivity options. The WLAN variant now fulfills the highest
security requirements with WPA2 encryption (the 802.11i standard). And the
802.11g++ technology (125 Mbit/s) now implemented alongside the 802.11g
wireless standard (54 Mbit/s) provides faster data communication. Many
intelligent details, such as menu-driven installation and color-coded cables
and sockets, make the user's job easier. At this year's CeBIT AVM also
presents its first Wireless LAN client. The extremely compact FRITZ!WLAN USB
Stick features remarkably easy installation and maximum security. Together
with FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN, it guarantees high WLAN security and fast data
throughput. All of the FRITZ!Box products are ready for the new ADSL 2+
standard, which permits greater reach and communication at up to 24 Mbit/s.

Wireless ISDN in its easiest form ever is on display in the new AVM
BlueFRITZ! ISDN Set. Thanks to an auto-pairing function, the Bluetooth set
goes to work with no software installation or configuration necessary. As
soon as the hardware is plugged in, the web browser starts. Furthermore, new
Bluetooth profiles play music wirelessly, and give mobile phones direct
access to a landline. AVM is also the first manufacturer to present an ISDN
solution for notebooks with the new ExpressCard standard: FRITZ!Card Express,
making its debut at CeBIT 2005, supplies the new notebook generation right
from the start with an ISDN-Controller in the smallest ExpressCard format (34
mm wide by 5 mm high). And for the many fans of the FRITZ! software, AVM
offers a new version at its fair stand, which will also be available for free
downloading after CeBIT.
