Cellular One Launches National Phone Recycling Campaign; NASCAR Star to Promote Restart During Weekend Race

OKLAHOMA, CITY --(Business Wire)-- March 9, 2005 -- Cellular One from Dobson Cellular Systems will drop the green flag this weekend on a nation-wide campaign to collect used wireless telephones that will be known as "Restart(TM)."

NASCAR veteran Joe Nemechek, who drives the #87 Cellular One Monte Carlo in the Busch series, will feature the Restart logo on the hood of his car in Saturday's Sam's Town 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Nemechek, will serve as honorary chairman of Restart(TM), which is a cooperative effort between Cellular One, a company known for its quality network and innovative products and service, and The Children's Organ Transplant Association (COTA.)

All used wireless telephones will be accepted at participating Cellular One retail locations as well as online at www.restartphones.com. Collected phones will be sold to a third party with all proceeds benefiting COTA a national children's charity that coordinates fund-raising efforts for children awaiting life-saving transplants.

Each person who donates a phone to Restart(TM) at either a Cellular One retail location or online via www.restartphones.com will receive a free "Donate Life" wristband.

"Restart represents our commitment to phone recycling and our dedication to children's charities," said Craig Davis, public relations manager for Cellular One. "We challenge everyone to look in their cabinets and recycle their used wireless telephones to help this worthy cause."

An estimated 130 million used wireless phones are discarded each year, according to industry estimates.

"I know first hand the life-saving effects organ donations can have," said Nemechek, whose brother was killed in a 1997 NASCAR accident. "Our family finds a lot of comfort in the fact John's organs were able to help someone else live."

Rick Loftgren, president of COTA, says the organization has assisted more than 850 families in almost every state of the union with fundraising to meet transplant expenses.

"Cellular One has been our valued partner for three years. Their efforts in helping build awareness in addition to fundraising have helped us continue our mission to help children in need of life-saving transplants," he said. "We are excited about this campaign and hope everyone will help support it."

Cellular One has set a goal of collecting 100,000 used wireless phones for the campaign, Davis said.

"We're proud to launch this campaign and we hope it will make a difference in the lives of many children who will go on to lead healthy lives," he said. "There are three ways people can get involved with Restart: visit a participating Cellular One location, donate your phone online at www.restartphones.com or request information on the website to start your own phone collection drive."

Cellular One is a licensed trade name of Dobson Cellular Systems, an Oklahoma City-based telecommunications provider operating wireless markets in 16 states covering a population base of nearly 12 million people.
