Dell Drops Price of 42-Inch High-Definition Plasma TV to $2,999; Company's Digital Television Portfolio Spans $799 to $2,999

ROUND ROCK, Texas --(Business Wire)-- June 16, 2005 -- Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) today dropped the price of its 42-inch high-definition plasma TV -- the W4200HD -- to $2,999, an almost 17 percent decrease from $3,499. The price move is further evidence of Dell's intent to lower the cost of high quality televisions for customers.

"When we introduced this product we said that the efficiencies of our business provided us with room to pass on savings to customers," said Michael Farello, vice president, Electronics and Accessories, Dell. "We want to bring the benefits and enjoyment of digital television products to the mass market and believe this is the right action to take on behalf of customers."

Designed for the living room or media room, the W4200HD provides a premium home-theater experience with its wide-aspect screen, built-in digital/analog tuners to process high definition or traditional television signals, and a thin profile measuring about three inches thick. A one-year limited warranty(a) with On-site Exchange Service(b) is included in the price with additional warranty and service options available.

The company also made additional price reductions of up to 10 percent in its LCD TV product line. The W3000 30-inch LCD TV is now priced at $1,799 and the W2600 26-inch LCD TV at $1,499. With today's price reductions, the company's full product line of digital televisions now ranges from $799 for its 19-inch LCD TV to $2,999 for the W4200HD. Earlier this month the company said it would unveil additional digital televisions in time for the holidays.
