Engenio Deploys BigLever's Software Development Solution to Support Growing Product Line; Storage Technology Provider Leverages its Core Competency for OEM Leadership

AUSTIN, Texas --(Business Wire)-- June 14, 2005 -- BigLever Software(TM), a leading provider of software product line development tools and services, announced today that Engenio Information Technologies has deployed Gears(TM) 3.1 to enhance its ability to support an ever-growing product line of data storage technology for its partners and customers.

"As an OEM supplier to many leading storage vendors, our partners depend on us to provide them with differentiated solutions under aggressive development schedules," said Bill Brant, Engenio VP of Engineering. "This leads to a complex software development challenge. Gears from BigLever helps us uniquely leverage our core competency in storage system software to efficiently create, evolve and maintain an entire product line of many differentiated products."

BigLever's Gears enables Engenio to maximize the consolidation, reuse and sharing of its core software assets and development competencies among all of the products in its product line -- while minimizing software engineering overhead and complexity. Gears complements and extends the existing tools and processes at Engenio. By virtually eliminating labor-intensive tasks such as configuration management "branch-and-merge," Gears is providing rapid and continuing return on investment.

Engenio and BigLever embarked on a six-week pilot project to validate the strategic benefits of Gears in the Engenio development environment. After only two weeks, the pilot had exceeded expectations and Engenio made the immediate decision to embrace Gears as its software product line development solution, purchasing licenses for its staff of 140 firmware engineers.

"We have designed Gears so that companies can very efficiently produce high-quality software for a product line of similar products," said Dr. Charles Krueger, BigLever CEO. "By enabling our customers to leverage their core software assets and development competencies, these companies can spend more time adding new features and capabilities to their product line and spend less time on overhead. We are thrilled to see Engenio and its customers benefit from the use of our technology."
