AVOCENT UNVEILS EMERGE WMS1000 AT INFOCOMM

LAS VEGAS, NV June 8, 2005 Avocent Corporation (NASDAQ: AVCT) today launched the Emerge WMS1000, a wireless media streamer. Avocent, a leader and pioneer in the IT/data center community has now migrated its proprietary technologies into the professional A/V marketplace. Many broadcast innovators are already working to integrate Avocent technologies. Avocent will demonstrate its new A/V line in booth # 7625 at the InfoComm show, June 8-10 in Las Vegas.

The Avocent Emerge WMS1000 wireless media streamer broadcasts high quality, full motion streaming video from virtually any analog video format to multiple display devices up to 1,000 feet without wires. Because of its wireless video graphics and audio design, Emerge WMS1000 makes installations simpler and more cost-effective eliminating the need for a PC at each display and extensive cabling. The WMS1000 auto-adjusting features make for an effortless installation.

The WMS1000 is the only wireless product that maintains resolutions up to 1366x768 WXGA, said Matt Nelson director of strategic business, Avocent Wireless Technology. With the creation of the WMS1000, Avocent continues to provide our customers with the latest and most innovative technologies.

The Emerge WMS1000 is a hardware solution that can be deployed in either a point-to-point (extension) or point-to-multipoint (broadcast) configuration. It supports multiple input/output formats including Component, S-Video, Composite Video, VGA computer video and stereo audio.

The WMS1000 transmitter connects directly to a computer, DVD player, VCR or cable TV box . The WMS1000 receiver connects directly into an output device such as a plasma screen, projector or LCD monitor. Multiple device types can be connected to a single WMS1000 transmitter.

Ensuring the highest quality of signal strength and video transmission, the WMS1000 was designed with auto setup and self-adjusting hardware. The result is a smooth motion video with a stable image. The content is transmitted immediately and securely in the 5 GHz band. The WMS1000 includes an RS-232 serial interface for command and control of devices attached to WMS receivers. Each transmitter can communicate with up to 8 receivers.

The Emerge WMS1000 wireless media streamer will be available from Avocent in Q3 2005. More details are available online at http://www.av.avocent.com
