Throughout, the players tried to execute their own versions of a resilient response. DeAngelis likened the resilient response to the performance of a golf ball when struck by a club - "the ball is deformed by the blow of the club - but because it's resilient it springs back. It regains its shape, and in so doing, it transforms the energy of the blow into its own energy. It takes off down the fairway toward the green - its goal."
