TELUS and Alcatel Execute Agreement to Support TELUS' Next-Generation Ethernet-IP Service and Network Architecture

PLANO, Texas, July 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- TELUS and Alcatel announced today that they have entered into an agreement to utilize key Alcatel technologies to support TELUS' build of a next generation Ethernet-IP service and network architecture.

TELUS will utilize Alcatel's Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM) solution to expand their broadband access coverage and to increase the subscriber bandwidth necessary to support leading business and consumer service offerings.
The Alcatel 7302 ISAM and 7330 ISAM Fiber to the Node (FTTN) will enable the efficient delivery of 20Mb/sec of bandwidth to the end customer, with speeds in excess of 40Mb/s where ADSL2+ bonding is employed, and over 50Mb/s with utilization of VDSL2. These access rates will enable TELUS to market new advanced broadband services to consumer and business markets.
To support a diverse IP services suite capability enabled by an expanding broadband access infrastructure, TELUS will also deploy the Alcatel 7450 Ethernet Service Switch platform.
The 7450 ESS is a purpose built switch, developed from inception to meet the growing multi-service edge (MSE) market requirements. In the MSE market, service providers must have services that can be deployed quickly with an extremely high level of dependability and true multi-service capabilities.

The Alcatel 7450 ESS will enable TELUS to efficiently deliver new Ethernet-IP services with the freedom to scale and evolve their infrastructure in conjunction with increasing services and subscribers without costly upgrades or complex changes to operational processes.
