Sapago retail RFID wins Microsoft Best in Show

Delray Beach, FL � Sapago Inc, the leader in wireless retail sales systems, has won the �CRN/Microsoft Best in Show� award at Microsoft�s 2005 Worldwide Partner Conference. The annual event is Microsoft�s premiere event for technology companies that use or sell Microsoft products. This year�s event, which attracted over 6200 attendees from 100 countries, was held July 8th through July 10th in Minneapolis and speakers included Steve Balmer, Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft.



The Sapago system includes wireless, handheld computers which are provided to patrons in retail stores, art galleries and museums. Users scan Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags or UPC barcodes on products or artwork and the system personalizes the experience, allowing the user to compare items, read reviews, access their ecommerce shopping cart and participate in loyalty programs and customer relationship management programs.

Sapago CEO, Michael Zammuto, says this award reflects interest in improving retail store sales. �The best opportunity today for retailers to increase profits is to increase shopper conversion rates. A one percent improvement in conversion rate can yield as much as a 10 percent increase in revenue.� He says. �We can bring the things people love about ecommerce into the retail store.� A store�s conversion rate is the percentage of shoppers who purchase something and is an important retail industry metric.



The award announcement says that the winners of the Best in Show awards were selected to �highlight innovative solutions developed by channel partners that serve as a source of inspiration for the entire channel. These solutions leverage a keen understanding of specific customer needs with emerging technologies to create new solutions that expand market opportunities for the channel as a whole.� Sapago won the award in the Small Business division, one of four divisions. The company beat out hundreds of competing technology companies from around the world.
