Appian and iWay Software Announce Strategic Partnership; Partnership Combines Power and Agility of Appian Enterprise BPM Suite with iWay's 280+ Industry-Leading Adapters

VIENNA, Va. --(Business Wire)-- Jan. 31, 2005 -- Appian Corporation, the first Business Process Management (BPM) company to deliver advanced process, knowledge management, and analytics capabilities in a fully integrated suite, and iWay Software, an Information Builders company, today announced a strategic partnership which will focus on providing intelligent integration adapters to the Appian Enterprise BPM Suite. Through this partnership, Appian is expanding the reach of its BPM solution into existing legacy and commercial enterprise applications, while significantly reducing the costs and complexities typically associated with integrating multiple, disparate information systems.

Using iWay Software's comprehensive Universal Adapter Framework, Appian customers can leverage the scalability and flexibility of Appian Enterprise to rapidly integrate third-party applications into their business processes. iWay's 280+ Intelligent integration adapters plug seamlessly into Appian Enterprise, providing its high-performance process engine with fast, efficient, and reusable tools to connect to virtually any legacy system, mainframe, database, and commercial enterprise without any custom coding.

"As organizations deploy enterprise-wide Business Process Management solutions, they often need to leverage critical information assets across highly distributed, heterogeneous environments," said George Barlow, vice president of Strategic Alliances at Appian. "Appian's partnership with iWay provides a cost-effective alternative to expensive, full-blown integration solutions for customers who need to simply and rapidly connect their business processes to third-party business applications and proprietary systems."

Appian Enterprise 4 ships with a standard interface to the iWay Universal Adapter framework and includes step-by-step integration wizards that allow users to create reusable connections to the most commonly used business applications, including PeopleSoft, Oracle, and SAP. These integrations can be saved and reused in any Appian Enterprise process diagram. Appian Enterprise Developer's Edition ships with a plug-in to Eclipse, the popular open source integrated development environment (IDE), allowing developers to easily customize any integration of their components.
