Attendees are also invited to attend the Second International TinyOS Technology Exchange on Feb. 11 at the University of California-Berkeley, where the winner of the Crossbow Smart Dust Challenge will be announced.

More than 600 Trained So Far

Crossbow has trained more than 600 software developers worldwide in TinyOS in the past two years alone. The first day of Crossbow's Smart Dust Training course covers a basic technology introduction, hardware overview, including the latest developments -- MICAz and 802.15.4 radios (ZigBee ready), the newest MICA Mote for outdoor applications, and new sensor boards. The first day will also include a TinyOS overview and hands-on session with the radio stack and multi-hop routing capabilities of TinyOS.

Attendees may choose between two tracks on the second day: one focused on TinyOS programming, and the other focused on using and deploying motes with minimal programming. Both tracks are highly interactive, with on-site technical engineers to help answer questions.

All attendees are required to have a Crossbow Mote kit and a laptop computer. A 10% discount on mote kits is available with registration. On the evening of Feb. 8, Crossbow will also offer an install session for those who have ordered kits for delivery at the training seminar or who have not yet installed TinyOS.

Attendees who sign up before Jan. 18, 2005, can save up to $300 per registrant, for a total of $695 for the two-day course. Students can save $200 before Jan. 18, for a total of $395, for early registration. Seats are limited and demand is high, so participants are encouraged to sign up early to reserve space.

Second International TinyOS Technology Exchange Feb. 11

Crossbow Smart Dust Training attendees are also welcome to register for the Second International TinyOS Technology Exchange from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at Sibley Hall, University of California-Berkeley. The Technology Exchange will provide a forum for researchers, developers, educators, companies and users to learn from one another about important recent developments within the TinyOS embedded network systems area and to participate in shaping paths of future development. There will be in-depth presentations on TinyOS 2.0, new 802.15.4 platforms, key network services, full-scale applications, as well as the awarding of the Crossbow Smart Dust Challenge Grand Prize.
