Iraq's Most Successful Wireless Carrier to Deliver Keynote & to Receive Award Jan. 12 at WCA's International Symposium

WASHINGTON, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Phil Moyse -- CTO of Asiacell, the most successful wireless service provider in Iraq -- will deliver a luncheon keynote address on Jan. 12 at the annual International Symposium & Business Expo of the Wireless Communications Association International (WCA) in San Jose, CA. Also, he will accept on behalf of his company WCA's annual leadership award for outstanding entrepreneurial success.
WCA made the announcements today in describing a program of 120+ speakers for the world's premier event for the wireless broadband industry during fall- winter-spring. Pre-registration is at a record pace, and the exhibit floor is sold out.
WCA President Andrew Kreig commented, "The courage and capability of the Asiacell team provides an inspiring illustration of the personal commitment of an industry advocate and -- exemplifies the strengths of the wireless platform. The company's current business is largely mobile cellular, but it is well-positioned for the Next Generation of wireless broadband services vitally needed Iraq to foster economic development and community services."
Asiacell's CTO is scheduled to speak on Jan. 12 to WCA delegates convened worldwide. His topic will focus upon the business roadmap to success in his nation, and its forthcoming transitions from narrowband to wireless broadband. Asiacell, one of three licensees for wireless services in Iraq, has the highest rate of new subscriptions of any of the three. The company has added about 1,000 customers per day through 2004, with current totals of more than 442,000. It has succeeded during a challenging environment for both businesses and government officials, with wireless communications as vital to improving the economy. Insurgents in Baghdad during December killed Communications Ministry Director General & Deputy Minister Dr. Kasim Muhawi Hussain, whose car was ambushed as he was driving to work. Among other officials working to improve advanced communications services is former WCA Board of Directors member and former Symposium juror Dr. Arno J. Kosko, who is based in Baghdad as the Senior Consultant for the Office of Communications in the Iraqi Reconstruction Management Office (IRMO) within the U.S. Department of State (http://iraq.usembassy.gov/).
Despite any challenges, Asiacell has continued to grow. Its motto is: "To create the best customer service experience in Iraq. Once we have them, customers will 'stay connected.'"
