ASA goes for El Dorado, San Andrs airports

(BNamericas.com)Mexican federal government airport operator ASA is in the process of signing agreements with Colombian partners to participate in the concession process of the South American country's El Dorado and San Andrs airports.

Further, ASA is currently looking for investment partners in the two bidding processes, Colombian newspaper Portafolio quoted ASA head Ernesto Velasco as saying.

The 17-year concession contract of the El Dorado international airport in Colombian capital Bogot outlines the administration, operation, commercial management, maintenance and expansion of the airport. During this period the concessionaire is expected to invest around US$600mn.

Bidding documents for this concession have been on sale since December 14 and bids will be received until April 18.

Once the bidding process for El Dorado is closed, the civil aviation authority (Aerocivil) will call for bids on the concession of San Andrs airport, in which some US$42mn are expected to be invested.

INTERNATIONAL EXPANSION

ASA's expansion into other countries seems to be the news of the moment. The operator has made it to the final stage of the bidding process to run New Delhi and Mumbai airports in India for 25 years.

The technical bids of the companies in the running for one of the two contracts were opened December 21 and the committee in charge of evaluating the offers has until December 31 to announce the winner.

ASA and its Indian partner Reliance Energy delivered both technical and economic bids for the two important airports and the committee will decide who is to be awarded which airport.
