TECHtionary Highlight Stealth Communications Weaves A New Web Link At Layer 2 Not At Layer 3
The animated TECH-Tip tutorial available at http://www.techtionary.com

Imagine that your corporate Layer 2 ethernet LAN-Local Area Network and any other Fortune 500 company LAN can connect via a Voice Peering Fabric-Facility (www.thevpf.com) at 60 Hudson in New York City, 700 South Federal in Chicago or via the VPF in Beijing, China. Calls from any LAN business or otherwise can be routed through the VPF and then to your LAN and to your desk. Look Ma, no Internet routing hops would be involved. Cable TV operators create a large metropolitan LAN for cable modem service. This concept just extends your LAN to anywhere. The calls would cost nothing per minute, aside from the fixed monthly cost of the digital link. Here is an application for VPF connections. Desk-to-desk conferencing across the world is easy as the desktop down the hall or WiFi-Wireless Fidelity phone or computer. SIP event can transport location information. However, the resulting location information is conveyed in existing location formats wrapped in GEOPRIV privacy extensions to the PIDF-LO-Presence Information Document Format LOcation data fields. In addition, disclosure is limited to voluntary disclosure by a notifier that possesses credentials for the named resource. Importantly, there is no guarantee this information is either true or be altered. Even if it is true, there is no certainty that the user is not simply dialing in from home via the office network.

Shown in the animation is VPF-Voice Peering Fabric Call Completion. Here is the process:
1 - Phone 1 goes off-hook (connect) and user dials number. 2 - Query digits sent to ENUM Registry. 3 - Routing information returned to VPF enterprise router. 4 - If valid "true" number, call is processed through private VPF. 5 - If not valid "false" number, call is processed through public VoIP carrier or PSTN.
