Former Commander for the Air Force Communications Agency Joins Telos Corporation; Col. David Kovach to Provide Direction as Telos Continues Momentum in the DoD

ASHBURN, Va. --(Business Wire)-- Aug. 9, 2005 -- Colonel David J. Kovach, United States Air Force (ret.), accepted a position with Telos Corporation, a leading provider of innovative secure technology solutions to the U.S. Government. As director of Air Force Strategic Programs, he will lead focused business development activities to target new opportunities within the Air Force and federal agencies. Telos will benefit from Kovach's more than 30 years of Air Force experience. His leadership will help Telos continue its growth in secure wireless, information assurance, secure messaging and identity management throughout the Department of Defense (DoD).

Kovach most recently served as commander, Air Force Communications Agency (AFCA), Scott Air Force Base. As commander, he oversaw the efforts of 700 military, Air Force civilian and DoD contractor personnel that provided Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C41SR) capabilities to a communications network enterprise of 700,000 clients. Among his many responsibilities, Kovach oversaw the security certification and accreditation of the US Air Force (USAF) enterprise and its 3,000 systems and applications. He was accountable for ensuring the network configuration complied with federal and DoD information assurance directives.

According to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Telos, John B. Wood, "In addition to his proven technical expertise, Col. Kovach has first-hand experience working for one of Telos' largest clients--the United States Air Force. As Telos expands its relationship with the Air Force through our NETCENTS contract, we're confident that Col. Kovach will help ensure our solutions and consultant offerings align with the Air Force's war-fighting requirements."

Throughout his distinguished career, Kovach has been significantly involved in the development and implementation of today's technology backbone in the Air Force. As Commander for the 609th Air Communications Squadron and Director of Communications, US Central Command Air Forces (USCENTAF), he led the development of IT solutions that dramatically enhanced the ability of senior combatant commanders to deploy and sustain operations in the world's most dangerous regions. While serving as commander, 374th Communications Group and 72nd Communications Squadron, Tinker AFB, he was responsible for the design, operation and maintenance of all communications, computer network and air-traffic services on a base hosting 23,000 subscribers, two major combatant flying wings, five major network domains and one of the USAF's Air Logistic Center depot operations.

In his new role with Telos, Kovach will leverage his substantial technical and infrastructure security background to guide the development of new business. His work will further improve Telos' tactical applications across the Air Force and other federal agencies, while also mentoring staff working with the Air Force.

"When I decided to move to the private sector, I wanted to choose an organization that understands the government and its requirements for secure command, control, communications, computers and intelligence capabilities and infrastructure," stated Kovach. "Telos was the logical choice. It's a company that has consistently hired highly-experienced former government security professionals and provided the freedom for senior managers to do their job."
