Portus to Deploy Residential, Business and Wholesale IP Communications in Croatia on a Single NetCentrex Application Platform

PARIS, April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- NetCentrex (http://www.netcentrex.net/), the leading enabler of converged voice-data (VoIP) networks and solutions, and Portus d.o.o., Croatia's second alternative telecommunications operator, announced today that Portus has chosen NetCentrex to deploy enterprise and residential IP communications services and to deliver carrier pre-selection and wholesale services.
Portus will initially deploy NetCentrex' Business Services Suite to launch a full range of enterprise IP telephony services in Croatia that will include IP Centrex hosted services, VoIP Virtual Private Network (VPN) services, including private dial plans, and business trunking. Portus will be the first and only company providing IP Centrex services in Croatia, giving them a unique selling point. In a second phase, MyCall(R) Residential Services Suite will enable Portus to introduce broadband residential communications services. Both solutions will operate on a single NetCentrex Application Softswitch platform.
Portus will also use the Application Softswitch to offer multi-protocol carrier pre-selection services and legal services (including lawful intercept and emergency services). The platform will have enough capacity to also deliver wholesale services to Croatian cable operators, making the deployment highly cost effective and accelerating return on investment (ROI) while maximizing revenue potential.
Portus has already gained significant market presence in Croatia through its H1 services as one of only three fixed-line telephony operators. Croatia is now extending deregulation of its telecommunications market, so Portus wants to develop a solid, long term strategy which will ensure profitability in the face of increased competition. Portus commissioned NetCentrex Business Consulting services to define a long term NGN services strategy and to build the business model for the deployment of telephony and video services.
"NetCentrex Business Consulting Services enabled us to define in detail the roll-out of communications services that would place Portus in the best position to attract customers, generate profits and increase market share in the short and long term.," states Darko Parun, Chairman of the management board of Portus d.o.o. "The layered architecture of the NetCentrex solutions enables us to introduce enterprise services and residential services in two phases on the same platform. This centralization of services will significantly reduce both CAPEX and OPEX while increasing the flexibility of service delivery. Moreover, the NetCentrex softswitch has enough capacity to interconnect VoIP traffic with other service providers and to deliver wholesale services to cable operators or other local loop providers, increasing the platform's profitability and accelerating return on investment."
"The deployment of wholesale services for cable operators and carrier pre-selection in addition to residential and enterprise services enables Portus to leverage the high capacity of NetCentrex' application softswitch platform and benefit from enormous service flexibility," comments Boris Dezier, General Manager for Central and Eastern Europe at NetCentrex. "The wholesale services will enable Portus to reach a larger number of subscribers because the cable operators will fill the subscriber gap where local loop is a problem for deployment of services. Portus will also use their platform to maximum capacity, making the deployment a highly profitable investment."
