Spescom eB Selected by Walsall Council in United Kingdom to Facilitate Advanced eGovernment Applications and Features
SAN DIEGO --(Business Wire)-- April 22, 2005 -- Company Continues to Expand Business in Growing UK Local Government Marketplace
Spescom Software Inc (OTC BB: SPCO), a developer of next-generation enterprise software solutions that organize and manage widely disparate computer data for the world's most complex organizations, today announced that its eB software suite has been selected by the Walsall Council, a metropolitan borough in the United Kingdom (UK), to enable advanced eGovernment electronic government functionality. The Spescom solutions were selected through the Company's partnership with CACI International, a leading provider of information technology (IT) solutions.
The Metropolitan Borough of Walsall, situated in the English Midlands just north of Birmingham, is at the heart of the country's engineering and manufacturing area. Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council, the Unitary Local Authority responsible for local government within the borough, has procured an eB document management system to support compliance with central government's eGovernment initiatives relating to the Electronic Social Care Record (ESCR). The ESCR is one of the core requirements for managing the provision of social care, one of the statutory responsibilities which unitary local authorities are mandated to address. The eB solution will also form the basis of the authority's corporate electronic document and records management system, and potentially will be deployed in up to 25 different service areas across the Council, reaching a user population of up to 4,000.
This contract is a result of the close relationship Spescom has established with CACI to address the needs of local government and related markets in the UK, and follows the highly successful implementation of an eB-based document management and workflow solution by CACI within the Newcastle and Leicester City Councils. CACI is headquartered in Washington, DC, with over 5,800 employees in approximately 100 locations in the US and Europe.
