Turbolinux Releases Free Preview of Turbolinux 10 for AMD64/EM64T with Intel Motherboard in Japan


TOKYO --(Business Wire)-- April 12, 2005 -- Turbolinux, Inc., a global leader of Linux-based solutions known for state-of-the art technology, cost-effective IT solutions and innovative alliances, announced today that it is providing Linux users with a free downloadable technical preview of Turbolinux 10 for AMD64/EM64T via a co-venture with Asahi Electronics Company, Ltd., an Intel(R) Reseller Center in Japan. Tubolinux's new operating system CD will be bundled with the Intel(R) Desktop Board D925XCV. Limited sales of 1,000 Desktops units commenced on April 5, 2005, at several personal computing and software outlets in Japan, including: Bress Company, Ltd., Edion Corporation, Sofmap Company, Ltd., and TSUKUMO Company, Ltd.



Turbolinux 10 for AMD64/EM64T is compatible with the "64-bit Extension Technology Software (EM64T)" of Intel Corporation, and "AMD Opteron/Athlon 64 Processor" of Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., and utilizes the versatile Turbolinux 10 Server as a base operating platform. "Our objective through this initiative is to promote the advantages of the high-performance capabilities of the 64-bit platform to our growing roster of Linux customers," said Koichi Yano, president and COO of Turbolinux, Inc. "This promotion implements the first phase of Tubolinux's strategy to expand the use of Turbolinux 10 for AMD64/EM64T into the global marketplace."
