DENVER --(Business Wire)-- April 4, 2005 -- This morning, Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE:Q) issued the following statement in light of the approaching April 5, 2005 deadline for the MCI Board of Directors to consider its Superior Offer to acquire MCI.



"We have delivered to MCI's advisors signed financing commitments to fund a Qwest-MCI transaction and to enable the new combined company to compete aggressively for new customers, make necessary capital improvements and continue to expand next generation services. In addition, we have provided to MCI a merger agreement that Qwest is prepared to sign. Although MCI has not agreed to this version, this revised agreement clearly reflects what we believe to be a Superior Proposal."
