Bruce Municipal Telephone System has Ethernet Covered with Covaro's Etherjack(R) Technology

RICHARDSON, Texas, Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- When Canada's Bruce Municipal Telephone System (BMTS) decided it was time to extend Ethernet service to its customers, the company needed a way to do it efficiently, cost effectively and intelligently. BMTS found only one company offering solutions that met those criteria -- Covaro Networks.

"BMTS is always looking for ways to offer new and increasingly versatile services to its customers," said Hans O. Nilsson, president and CEO of BMTS. "The intelligent Ethernet services we provide using Etherjack(R) technology from Covaro give us a competitive advantage and help us serve our customers well, no matter what delivery facility they have in the last mile."
With Covaro's CC-101 serving customers using copper, a CC-411 serving customers using fiber and Covaro's CC-16000 aggregation device, BMTS is able to offer its customers ubiquitous Ethernet service with a consistent look and feel. The CC-101 and CC-411 feature Covaro's Etherjack(R) technology, which enables BMTS to provide remote Ethernet service definition, monitoring and diagnostics. These features improve efficiencies and provide differentiated services for BMTS and its Ethernet customers.
"With a CC-101 and CC-411 operating as Ethernet demarcation devices -- BMTS is able to offer consistent, intelligent Ethernet services to customers that are using totally inconsistent facilities," stated Joe Bass, president and CEO of Covaro Networks. "More companies could learn from BMTS's forward- looking approach. It's time to start giving customers the Ethernet services they've been demanding, and the only way to do that effectively is with Covaro's products."
Imbued with Covaro's Etherjack(R) functionality, the CC-101 and CC-410 are Ethernet demarcation devices, meaning they serve as handoff points between the BMTS network and the networks of BMTS's customers. Etherjack demarcation consists of two critical components, a service UNI (user network interface) and a NID (network interface device). These functions provide an intelligent Ethernet service with remote monitoring, test and management. The CC-16000 is an aggregation device, enabling service providers to reach customers from central office locations, co-located equipment spaces, outside cabinets and basement-located equipment in multi-tenant offices.
